Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned. We have been taught that God loves us and forgives our sins. This is our FAITH, this we say that we believe. But, are we totally sure that we have been forgiven; is there, at times, just a little doubt? Do we really trust that God has forgiven us? Trust (hope) is a true Lenten virtue for those who have Faith and believe God’s Word (Jesus). It is HOPE that strengthens FAITH. Therefore, by accepting God’s Word in faith which is strengthened by trust (Hope), we experience true LOVE. Love binds us to God in our Faith, strengthened by our Hope. As we begin Lent in this Holy Year, remember that we are pilgrims of Hope. Repent and trust! Truly, God loves us. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
